What is a Pipeline?

Many animals wind up in the “pipeline” going from home to auction (sometimes multiple auctions) and if there is a kill buyer in the area, like there is here, sometimes unseen ship directly to slaughter. While slaughter is a very publicized yell for help to those who wind up there, some don’t get the opportunity to be helped and ship unseen direct to the plant. However, this is not the only life ending scenario. Few private people attend and bid at auctions. Many resellers attend traveling from auction to auction which can be exhausting and dangerous. Some get injured, some get sick but the bottom line is this can be just as life ending as slaughter.

Not a Rescue!

A group of private buyers with combined decades of auction and direct from slaughter purchases are willing to pause the “pipeline” cycle, giving them an opportunity to find a home. That being said, they do not have an unlimited amount of time or resources. If a home or rescue organization isn’t found in the timeframe allotted they will, unfortunately, be returned to the pipeline” and all of the dangerous possibilities that come with it because this is a pause, it’s not permanent unless there is a “pipeline pull”.

Ways you can help:

Direct Purchase – pay the purchase price, upon verification of payment the “pipeline pull” will successfully be completed. This is the fastest way to pull.

Pipeline pay down – you can pay toward the price listed. This is not a donation but a “collective purchase”. The home offer (not a dealer) must pay half of the price.

Rescue organizations are welcome to fundraise. We will post your information on the website so people can donate directly to your organization.

Sale barn horses (also called auction horses) need to be quarantined because they’ve likely been exposed to a wide range of unknown animals and potential diseases.
